We are excited to introduce woodwork as part of our Early Years learning experiences. Woodwork gives children real tools and natural materials in a safe, carefully supervised environment. Through hands-on experiences such as hammering, joining, sanding and creating, children can develop a wide range of skills whilst having fun and expressing their ideas!

Woodwork supports children to develop:

  • Fine and gross motor skills

  • Hand-eye coordination

  • Problem solving skills

  • Creativity and imagination

  • Confidence and independence

  • Language and communication

  • Resilience and perseverance

Woodwork is about the process rather than the finished product. Safety is the heart of our approach, children will be introduced to tools gradually. We hope that through woodwork children will develop a sense of "I can do it!" while discovering the joy of making, creating and learning with real materials.
